Finishing/Gluer Operator

Sets up and operates machine to glue and fold window; ensure that the Gluer is Operating in the safest possible manner; that the quality of the produced product exceeds our customer’s expectations and that performance goals are achieved. To perform this job successfully, an individual must obey all Safety procedures. Individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Required Skills:

  • Sets up and operates straight-line gluers, inner cell, 4-corner and 6-corner gluers; and related peripheral/supporting equipment for manufacturing folded and glued carton
  • Observes automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of box blanks to detect machine malfunctions
  • Inspects completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work order specifications, and adjust machinery as necessary to correct variations
  • Keeps daily time and materials usage reports and records information in Peak and SAP
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance
  • Disassembles machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, using hand tools
  • Assist temporary employees with understanding task assignments while - reinforcing housekeeping, safety and Graphic Packaging International’s core values.
  • Must be flexible; willing to work other shifts, overtime and weekends
  • Review job ticket.
  • Performs, understands and follows make ready as required which includes general set up of the gluer or window machine
  • Run the job according to customers specifications
  • Quality control of all gluing aspects including carton alignment, glue adhesion and proper folding
  • Verifies and communicates both product standards and work standards to crew to execute production.
  • Maintains equipment by performing minor maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, adjustments, repairs, and authorized modifications.
  • Clean area around gluer. Housekeeping is imperative
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines safely, meeting production goals, and producing a quality cartonMachine brand types used: Post, International, Bobst and Jagenburg;  
  • Required Experience:
  • Window Machines; Glue Systems: Leary / Nordso
  •  
  • Two years or more as a machine operator
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Mechanical / technical aptitude
  • Entry Level Computer skills
  •  

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) throughout working shift for 8 to 12 hours
  • Able to lift 10 lb. continuously and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lb.
  • Occasional stooping, bending and overhead reaching
  • Frequent walking
  • Grasping and gripping
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand tools and equipment
