Job Description

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Responsible for testing and visual inspection of the final product as it comes off of the two paper machines.
  • Responsible for notifying the appropriate people when the product is out of specification.
  • Responsible for calibrating test equipment at beginning of shift in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Responsible for verifying online scanner gauges and make notifications if out of tolerance.
  • Responsible for entering test data and machine downtime into a computer system timely and accurately.
  • Help perform vacation relief for other Quality Inspectors as needed.
  • Ability to work all three shifts, 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd.  Mill is 24 hour, 7 day/week operation.
  • Responsible for compliance with and support of all facility safety and housekeeping policies and procedures including CERT behavior based safety program.
  • Must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of companywide standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).

Required Skills
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tests in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Ability to recognize various defects and make decisions on whether or not to downgrade in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills for entering test data into a database.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate good verbal communication skills.
  • The incumbent must exhibit ability and a desire to make reasoned decisions on actions to be taken, based upon his/her knowledge and experience, with less than complete information on the current situation.
  • Must be available to work any shift and days.
