Quality Technician I

Our Quality Technicians works with the Quality Manager in coordinating all activities related to quality.  

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following.

  • Signs off on all printing/cutting/finishing make-readies prior to production run
  • Random quality checks during production runs
  • Responsible for reviewing production paperwork
  • Assist with mid month AIB audit
  • Assist with sorting of cartons as required
  • Retrieves job jacket, purges paperwork post production, and files appropriately
  • Operates and maintains carton testing equipment and label machine
  • Makes case/pallet labels as required
  • Demonstrates tasks to temps and other manufacturing personnel
  • Trains employees on quality standards
  • Comply with safety regulations
  • Comply with company rules and regulations
  • Perform related tasks as assigned
  • Audit Corrective/Preventative Actions and production process for compliance to Quality Management System
  • Primary Level 1 responsibilities;
    • Audit CTQ, RTQ data
    • Approve and audit quality of production set ups
    • Communicate plant quality issues
    • Oversee Quarantine functions on shift
    • Training employees on SOP’s related to CI and Quality
    • Pulling required customer samples

Ideally the individual that would be a strong fit for this position would have some of the following knowledge/skills and abilities;

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Basic computer/math skills
  • Ability to work well with manufacturing department personnel
  • Familiar with TQM principles

Skills you will be required to learn on the job:

  • Operate label machine
  • Operate a variety of test equipment (i.e. score bend/open force tester, densitometer, micrometer and rub tester)

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must have at least three years of professional working experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be willing and able to work an 8-hour shift
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Mechanical Aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
    • Computer Proficient; ability to use Microsoft Office products to compile reports
    • Must have basic ability to execute mathematics and reading skills

Essential Job Functions include the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, hearing protection
  • Other Physical Requirements:
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 10 pounds
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 45 pounds
    • Frequently (34-66% of the time) standing, bending, walking
    • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) squatting, climbing, reaching above shoulder (up to 26”), reaching at waist or lower, pushing (up to forces of 15 pounds), pulling, carrying, kneeling, grasping (up to forces of 20 pounds), sitting, and use of hands/fingers
    • Will not be twisting, stretching, crawling or crouching
    • Right- and left-hand coordination is necessary
